Ummm…I am so VERY into this right now!
But Black people in period or fantasy settings totally makes the stories unreal.
Also holy shit I love these.
How come I don’t run across this stuff regularly?
Because of racism and the retroactive erasure of POC in Medieval Europe. Pretty much the same reason you almost never see these works of art either unless you’re already looking for them:

“I remember my dad, he’d say ‘You have three strikes against you in this world. Every black man has two. They’re black, and they’re male. But you already have three — you’re black, you’re male and you’re gay. You’re gonna have a hard fuckin’ time. If you’re gonna do this, you’re gonna have to be stronger than you’ve ever imagined.”

So I’m writing this post because I want the world to know about this, but also because I’m in the “productive procrastination” stage of writing a paper that’s due tomorrow.
Next year, Sewanee, my well-beloved but often behind-the-times university, will have its first ever Gender and Sexuality…
“Under this policy, “No” always means “No,” and “Yes” may not always mean “Yes” (for example a drunken or coerced “Yes” is not a valid “Yes”). Nor does a “Yes” to some sexual activities imply a “Yes” to all sexual activities. Anything but a clear, knowing, and voluntary consent to any sexual activity is equivalent to a “No.”
“The sexual orientation and/or gender identity of individuals engaging in sexual activity is not relevant to allegations under this policy.”
Love my future school.
